In 2021 we continue to navigate the challenges of COVID-19. We are excited to be moving into phase one of the reopening of the Subterranean theatre after our (long) temporary closure. Please review our COVID protocols before visiting the theatre.

We are currently in rehearsals for
A short play festival in collaboration with Excellence Noir celebrating our resilience!

Earlier in 2021, we produced Ghost Lights, a group-devised selection of stories, readings, reactions, and moments from our experiences over the past year, featuring Theatre Lunatico core members and artistic associates. You can see Ghost Lights here!

If you would like to make a donation to help us in our ongoing efforts to ensure the survival of Berkeley’s beloved venue post-pandemic, please make a donation here!

We are aiming to get our postponed 2020 season of work up and running in 2022!

Meanwhile, we are working on our short play festival, Singing In The Dark Times, and we continue to meet regularly to support each other through the challenges of COVID-19.

We will keep you informed of any upcoming performances and events!

The Subterranean Theater

We are opening the Subterranean in September, adhering to state regulations on indoor events, and also signing up to the Theatre Bay Area protocols.

If you would like to help us keep the theater running (we have ongoing expenses during this lock-down), please make a donation!

We would love to hear from you! Let us know your thoughts on the re-opening of our theater

What measures would you like to see put in place that would enable you to feel safe to attend a performance at the Subterranean?
